EuromContact unveils the 2023 market data for soft contact lenses and lens care products
The market value of soft contact lenses at industry to eye care professionals level grew by 5.2% in 2023, with significant growth observed in some European markets (+16,2% in Belgium-Luxembourg; +11,7% in Sweden).
The lens care market grew by 1.3%, with a significant 4.8% increase in the 13 European countries covered by the report.
EuromContact unveils the 2022 market data for soft contact lenses and lens care products
In 2022, the market value of soft contact lenses at industry to eye care professionals level grew by 11.9%, to € 1’710 million for the European reported countries. In these countries, total lense care product market remains however flat : € 139 million (-0.30%).
In the 11 European countries/regions considered in the report, 6,6% of the population between 15 and 64 years old wear soft contact lenses. Growth in total wearers is positive, up 4.76% in 2022 over 2021.
EUROMCONTACT releases the 2021 market data report on sales of contact lenses and lens care products.
The EUROMCONTACT statistics report for 2021 is now available. The statistics report covers 34 countries in 2021, in comparison to 32 countries reported in 2020. Of the 21.7 million wearers in the 34 countries covered, 56% of them use daily disposable, 43.9% weekly/bi-weekly and monthly replacement lenses, and 0.07% conventional soft lenses. Total sales in 2021 reached 1,991 million euros – a growth of 14.3% compared to 2020, a year that was atypical due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On 11th March 2020, EUROMCONTACT publishes the market data for 2019 for soft contact lens and lens care products.
This is the 17th year report of EUROMCONTACT, based on a compilation of quarterly statistics provided by contributing companies. In 2019, the contact lens market in 33 countries experienced an increase of 8.8% in comparison with 2018, reaching a value of € 1, 960 million. On a comparable basis (as not all countries had data in all segments in ’18 and ’19), the growth is 4.3%. For the European Union, Switzerland and Norway (EU+), the increase is 3.7% representing € 1, 695 million.
